Eligibility
Benefits are paid to eligible workers who
(1) have sufficient wages in their base period;
(2) are unemployed through no fault of their own;
(3) are able to work full-time;
(4) are available for, and actively seeking full-time work.

Min. amount earned req'd to get unempl. = $2,300/yr

Reopening a Closed Claim
There are several reasons why your claim may be closed:
(1) you report you have returned to work,
(2) you are denied benefits for four or more weeks,
(3) you report earnings over your benefit amount for four consecutive weeks,
(4) you stop filing

Work Search Requirements:
It is your responsibility to keep a list of your employer contacts.
The list should include the following:
(1) date of contact,
(2) company name and phone number,
(3) person contacted,
(4) type of work,
(5) method of contact,
(6) results.

Denial of Benefits

You may be denied benefits if you:

Quit your job without good cause.
Were discharged for just cause.
Are unemployed due to a strike.
Are not available for work, are unable to work, or are not actively seeking work.
Refuse or fail to apply for available, suitable work.
Have earnings equal to or more than your weekly benefit amount. This includes wages,
vacation, holiday or severance pay, and wages in lieu of notice.

FYI: if you have a severance or separation pay from your previous job, then the
unemployment payments will start after the severance period is up.
* the period of unemployment starts as of the day you lose your job, NOT last day of
severance pay.
